Bipartisan honors for Independence Party State Leader Jack R. Essenberg

Commack, N Y-- The Bonwit Inn served as the venue this week for a gathering of elected officials from throughout Long Island and New York City, who assembled to honor Jack R. Essenberg, recently elected to a second term as the State Leader of the Independence Party.

Essenberg, of Miller Place, was presented with numerous proclamations and letters of recognition from officials all over New York State. Under Essenberg's four years of leadership the Independence Party has grown steadily since first attaining party status in 1994.

The Independence Party now claims Row "C" on the ballot as a result of 354,780 votes cast for party founder B. Thomas Golisano in his race for Governor in this past November's General Election.

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) was among the dignitaries who spoke, expressing his appreciation for the party's support in his upset victory.

Arnold B. Firestone, of Bay Shore, a local party official of the Independence Party in Suffolk County who acted a Master of Ceremonies said at the conclusion of the reception: "This is a great night for Jack and for the Independence Party."

Essenberg added: "I am overwhelmed by this show of support and appreciation for all that we, working together, have accomplished to move our party forward in a positive way to this point and I look forward to continuing to work with all of you in the future."
